Wii U, Nintendo's next game console, arrives in stores on November 18, just in time for the holiday sales madness. Wired's unit came in today, and although we can't show you what it looks like turned on, we can look at everything inside the box. And it's a lot of stuff.
Nintendo is releasing this new machine at a time when game consoles are facing stiff competition from new business models. Wii U is Nintendo's first high-definition gaming machine, but that's not the core element of the Japanese giant's plan to stay relevant. That is, as usual, to introduce crazy new ways of playing games that its competitors can't match. With Wii U, it's all about the GamePad, a massive controller featuring a touchscreen. It's adding a lot of the cost to the package, but the addition of a second screen is the killer feature for Wii U. How that gets used in games is all up to designers' imaginations (and Nintendo's ability to convince software makers to throw their lots in with Wii U).
Wii U will come in two configurations: a $300 standard package with a white console and GamePad, and the $350 "Deluxe Set," pictured here, which comes in black and includes among other extra goodies a copy of the NintendoLand game.
Why no hands-on impressions? Nintendo has placed an embargo on reviews until launch day, November 18. The reason why is likely because it is preparing a massive system firmware update for that day, which will add all of the major online functionality like streaming-video apps and the eShop for digital game purchases. We expect that Nintendo's working on polishing these experiences from now until launch. We will have impressions of early Wii U games in the days to come.

How to get Google Plus Invite:Google+

Google+, the largest and the most used search engine’s reply to Facebook, is finally out. It is currently in testing mode. But it seems like many masses of people have already got access to it. And Yes I am one of them.

The Google+ project is big G’s social initiative that brings Circles, Sandbar, Sparks, Huddle,Hangouts and more to millions of users of Google. Brief introduction of these feature is written below.

• Circles: think social circles, akin to Facebook’s groups
• Sandbar: a user-unifying toolbar
• Sparks: a search engine for sharing content between users
• Huddle: a group messaging app that allows users to share with certain “Circles”
• Hangouts: group video chatting designed to allow up to 10 users video chat at once

For the last few days, Google+ invites have not been available to the public, but apparently Google is prepared to test the service with a larger group. Google+ users will find a button that allows them to invite their friends on the Google+ Stream page. Invites are also available if a Google+ user shares content with a non-user via email.

Google+ Invitations are in high demand. I just posted one update on Facebook’s wall, and I have received over 100 requests for invites. Request for Google+ invites are flooding Facebook and Twitter.

1. You can click on profile pictures to rotate through them. Nice find by +MG Siegler on that one.

2. In the stream, you can click ‘j’ to navigate down to the next item or ‘k’ to navigate up. I think it’s the same keys that Gmail uses, which is probably in turn because +Paul Buchheit uses vi and created Gmail.

3. If you’re sharing a post with a small circle of people, you can prevent resharing. Click the arrow at the top-right of the post and choose “Disable reshare.”

4. If you’re looking for more fun things in your stream, the “Incoming” stream is stuff from people who are sharing with you, but who you haven’t added to a circle.

5. One great one from +Frederic Lardinois is that “there is some basic text formatting, too: (*)bold(*), (_)italics(_) and (-)strike-through(-) are the ones I’ve noticed so far.”

8 Quick Tips and Tricks:

Tweak your email notification options. By default, Google Plus will spam your Gmail account with notifications for practically anything involving your new account. You can go to the Google Account options to uncheck all of the ones you don't want to get, thereby reducing your Gmail traffic considerably.

Change your profile's field-sharing settings. Your Google Account has certain basic fields that it can share with anyone--but you don't have to go along with maximum sharing. Open your Google Account Profile and privacy settings, click Edit visibility on profile, and then click the individual profile fields and determine how public you want to make them.

Disable resharing. Google Plus may make it easy for you to segregate who you share your information with, but your connections have no such limitations, meaning that something you share with a select few can still spread like wildfire across your networks. Nevertheless, you can disable resharing of a certain post after posting it: Just click the arrow in the upper-right-hand corner of the post and then click Disable resharing.

Check your Incoming feed. Unlike Facebook, Google Plus lets people share things with you even if you're not following them. Think of it as a spam folder that occasionally contains something interesting.

Use the Your Circles option while sharing. Google Plus's Circles system is great for letting you use your Plus account to set barriers between the various groups of people you want to share things with. If most of what you share on Google Plus isn't especially privacy-sensitive, however, use the Your Circles sharing option to automatically share items with all of your circles and avoid the trouble of clicking each individual circle.

Start some Sparks. In addition to following people, you can search for interesting stuff to share about particular topics in the Sparks section on the side menu of the main page. Click Sparks, and search for things that you're interested in or browse through the featured topics; if you want to pin a search on your sidebar for easy future access, click the Add Interest button under the search field.

Click through profile pictures. You can easily cycle through other people's profile pics by clicking on them.
